This workshop is normally three hours in total, but can be tailored to your groups specific needs and requirements.

Building believable characters.
A hands on workshop looking at how to get them real, getting them right.
What is Covered?
- Believable characters don’t need to be nice!
- Employ descriptive strategies such as physical descriptions, background descriptions, and comparison of characters when writing narratives
- Use precise language, action verbs, sensory details, appropriate and colorful modifiers.
- Active and passive voice
- Analysis of characters and their traits
- Short writing activity
- Circle sharing of work created
What do we get?
Handout materials sent 1 week prior to engagement to print out and have available for the group, digital copy of powerpoint presentation and 1 week of email support/ feedback/ follow up for the group.
What do we need to supply?
A room or quiet space to seat participants.
Tables and chairs for participants to work around.
Projector and laptop for powerpoint presentation. ( I can work around this)
Copies of handout materials ( digital copy will be sent 1 week before engagement)
Cuppa afterwards!
How many participants can come to the workshop?
Ideally, a group of 15 – 25 ensures that participants are given personalised feedback and attention. For larger groups, this workshop can be facilitated with less hands on, personalised activities and presented more formally.
Where will Annie travel to present?
Anywhere in the world! Annie has presented and facilitated workshops, been part of panels and spoken to groups in all parts of the globe; from Europe to much of Australia; most recently in Vienna at the International Conference for the Short Story.
She is happy to travel through the Southern Downs from Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Northern Coast of New South Wales from Ballina up to Coolangatta for the cost of petrol and workshop fees. Other places negotiable.
